STAND IN RESOURCES

A Stand-In is responsible for taking the place of a principal actor during rehearsals, camera blocking and lighting set ups. Therefore, it’s important that they not only match our actors’ height but their skin tone and appearance as closely as possible. Stand-In roles are highly coveted because they’re great opportunities to interact with crew and get a brief education on what goes into setting up a scene.

As a Stand-In you will become a member of 2nd Team. It's important to note that these two terms are interchangeable and how you’ll typically be referred to by our Assistant Directors (ADs) and Production Assistants (PAs). Anytime you hear someone call for "2nd Team" they are referring to you and the other Stand-ins.

Do’s & Don’ts

Please do…

  • respond to Booking Emails, even if you have to decline the role.

  • respond to Call Info Emails in a timely manner. If we don't hear from you, we’ll assume you’re ghosting and end up giving your role away.

  • arrive reasonably early for your call time so you have time to park and get through security or any other check in requirements before going to set or holding.

  • read our emails thoroughly. Everything you need to know regarding your role + the filming day will be in your Call Info Email or the emails we send leading up to the filming day.

  • bring a book, magazine or work to occupy you during down time on set.

  • check the weather for the day and bring appropriate clothing. We want you to be comfortable on set. Our costumes department cannot provide layers, rain or snow gear for everyone so it’s important that you pack appropriately for the weather.

  • submit ALL of the information we request in our submission instructions (otherwise your submission may be overlooked).

  • immediately let us know via text or email if you're no longer available to work on a day you’ve been booked for. The sooner we know the sooner we can find a replacement for you.

  • check out the FAQs page before texting/emailing your questions.

Please do not…

  • call or text us asking to work. Our text line is strictly used for communicating with Background that need additional assistance with a booking or time sensitive updates regarding bookings.

  • submit through other casting notices/calls that are not associated with us. We do not review outside links to digital comp cards. You must submit following the instructions in our posts and/or email blasts.

  • leave set until you are released and checked out by the Background PA.

  • try to take pictures, videos or talk with the cast and directors on set unless they engage you in conversation first. Everyone is on set to work so it’s important that we maintain a professional environment.

  • wander off without letting a Background PA know. You must stay in the designated area for extras ("extras holding").
